Politics have become more toxic and divisive over the past few years. Twitter and Facebook are minefields, and you have to watch your step or you’ll find a comment thread blowing up with a war of words over conflicting beliefs. Whatever happened to the good old days when the internet was primarily pictures of cats and silly videos of kids doped up after coming back from the dentist? Can’t the internet be fun again, even when it comes to politics?
One Instagram has been thinking the same thing, so they decided to do something about it. It’s a simple yet brilliant premise: they Photoshop the face of President Donald Trump onto the Queen of England. Why? Is it some sort of meta statement? Nope. It’s just hilarious. And in these times of folks on both sides taking their political beliefs too seriously and “doom-and-glooming”, it’s nice to see a little whimsical levity just for the sake of it.
